“It’s been a passion project. [The MCOE] is a 60,000 square feet of clinical space with 160 beds with prenatal and postnatal care, as well as operating theaters, procedure rooms, labor and delivery, and NICU areas.”

Build Health International Project Manager Tyler Morris joined AGC MA on its Sustainability Matters Podcast to speak about the construction of the Maternal Center of Excellence (MCOE), a new maternal and child health center that will greatly improve health outcomes throughout Sierra Leone.

Like BHI’s other projects, the MCOE project represents a multi-level collaboration between BHI personnel, nonprofit partners (including Partners In Health and Partners In Health Sierra Leone), Sierra Leone’s government, and global supporters. Many of the furnishings, medical equipment, and other hardware constructions materials that are going toward the MCOE project have been donated by hospitals, construction companies, and other organizations throughout the Greater Boston area.
