Project Description
Dental and oral health is an essential component of an individual’s overall health and well-being. If left unaddressed, it can cause infection and pain, leading to further illness and absenteeism from school and work. To address the need for comprehensive dental healthcare, BHI is providing architectural and structural designs as well as construction plans for a new dental clinic at the Gamal Medical Center in Conakry, Guinea.
Currently, the medical center is the only dental training center in the country, so an expansion is highly necessary to accommodate an increased demand for hands-on education of future dentists across West Africa. The dental clinic will also provide much-needed dental care to the local community for free or reduced-cost.
There are several important construction considerations for this clinic that BHI is uniquely equipped to address. Firstly, there are space constraints since the clinic will be part of a pre-existing medical campus. Similarly, construction must be carefully phased to ensure it does not interrupt the daily clinical operations happening all around it. Finally, it is crucial to provide high-quality equipment and up-to-date dental technology, so that patients can access reliable and dignified care.
