Build Health International
2025 Financial Report
Dear Friend of BHI,
As a companion to our 2025 Annual Report, below you will find our 2025 Annual Financial Report, for the period from July 1, 2024 –June 30, 2025. This reflects BHI’s commitment to transparency and accountability in stewarding the resources with which you generously entrust us.
2025 was a challenging year for many organizations. As you will observe, BHI was not immune to these challenges and incurred several large project variances. While we did not experience funding cuts in the same way as many of our partners, downstream effects of the cuts on the global health sector and on BHI cannot be understated.
At the same time, these challenges do not tell the full story of BHI’s financial position or unwavering commitment to our partners. As a nonprofit we strive to help realize the visions of the health care organizations we serve by keeping our architecture, engineering and construction fees as low as possible and delivering facilities below market-rate costs and with strict deadlines. The international disruptions in 2025 prompted BHI to make direct contributions to several of those organizations that could not complete goals for their critical projects.
With financial planning and board governance, BHI retains a sizable reserve fund. Portions of this fund may only be spent with board approval and under extraordinary circumstances, and this year presented those circumstances.
Over the past two years, we have taken steps to improve cost projections and enhance financial monitoring. In 2025, we launched a successful search for BHI’s first Chief Financial Officer, who will guide BHI’s strategic financial direction. And we invested in our fundraising capacity to bring new resources to better support our partners.
We want to reiterate our gratitude to the BHI community for your generosity, which comes in so many forms. We are confident that together, we can continue to surmount inevitable challenges and ensure that communities everywhere can access dignified, affordable, high-quality healthcare.
In solidarity,
The BHI Finance Team

Impact
“At Turner, we reduce our environmental footprint through waste avoidance and diversion. One way we do this is by donating salvaged building materials to Build Health International. This partnership not only creates a more sustainable supply chain, but also supports the development of safe and inclusive projects around the world. Together, we’re building stronger communities.”

Jean Francois Laforet
Director of Operations and Procurement | Haiti
On the front lines of Haiti’s complex logistical landscape, Jean-Francois Laforet operates with a calm, unwavering resolve. As Build Health International’s Director of Operations and Procurement for Haiti, his mission is to ensure that critical materials navigate daily challenges to reach their destination.
Before joining BHI, he worked at the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation and held several management roles at Partners In Health, including Logistics Coordinator for the Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais. In these roles, he learned the complexities of international and local procurement. Currently pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Finance to sharpen his skills further, Jean-Francois understands that his role is not just about purchasing, but about stewardship. He sees every dollar saved as a dollar that can be reinvested into BHI’s mission and the community.
Rwanda Healthcare Guidelines
Build Health International’s architecture team partnered with Rwanda’s Ministry of Health to develop national maternal and neonatal guidelines for designing and building healthcare infrastructure. By utilizing international building codes and procedures, these standards uphold safety, accommodate patients, and are tailored to local clinical needs. Through site assessments, stakeholder input, and technical recommendations, the guidelines support more consistent and equitable care across Rwanda. This collaboration serves as a model for how smart infrastructure policy can strengthen national health systems at scale.
“We know that Africa has lots of pathogens that have pandemic potential. The African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases [also known as IGH] enables Africa to be at the forefront of genomic surveillance, pandemic pre-emption and response.”
